Ron Buchanan joined JacksonWhite in June 2006 as the Elder Law team’s Veterans Pension Benefits Consultant.

Although originally from Canada, Ron joined the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and toured in Vietnam as a Combat Interpreter. He joined the Washington D.C. Police Department directly from Camp Pendleton and was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1972.

In 1973, Ron accepted an offer from Arizona’s Department of Public Safety, and moved to Phoenix. A position with the VA surfaced and Ron retired from there in 2006, nearly 33 years later. His positions with the VA included all aspects of claim development, a benefits counselor, a field examiner, the VA’s casualty assistance officer, the regional office liaison with ALTCS, and the supervisor of the VA’s Fiduciary Program. He retired as manager of the VA’s outreach and public contract efforts. His role with JacksonWhite is to assist clients in obtaining Veterans Disability Pension Benefits.

Ron has a bachelors and masters degree from Arizona State University in Criminal Justice, and was a Fulbright Scholar finalist in 1980. His interests include coaching youth sports, anything athletic, and gardening. He has three grown children and is the proud grandfather of three.
